Rithika Merchant’s first solo exhibition at TARQ, Where the Water Takes Us brought together a body of work that explored issues of migration, displacement and belonging through the idiom of epics and myths. Working primarily with the mediums of gouache and ink on paper, Rithika created elaborate and poetic mosaics of myths that sought to thread together a plethora of histories across time and space. The accompanying catalogue for this show featured the essay, Water runs thick, like lime, written by Skye Arundhati Thomas.
