In this series of works Saju is visualizing the chronicles of his ancestors. These are the stories or in a way history of the people connected or lived in his family's two ancestral homes. He has titled the work histories/stories because the distinction between story and history is somehow vanishing. There are 7 works in this series and each work is a visualization of certain historic moments connected with the artist's ancestors. He has tagged individuals, objects and places in the work so it will be identified.
This scene takes place during the time of Second World War. Once Nani Achan (one of the artist's ancestors) was returning to Penang Island after his visit to Village in India. The British ship he boarded was about to reach Penang Island, by that time the Japanese army captured the British Island and Malaysia. The ship got this information and they rerouted the ship to their other colony of Burma. So this is how Nani Achan landed in Burma by mistake. But later on he settled there and did not return. So this is the scene of Japan's attack on Malaysia during second world war.
