In 'Illusion of Identity and Salvation', the mixed media ranges of digital prints from antiquated imagery with collage work and Samanta's hand made drawings on them. The overarching theme in this work is of cyclical creation and destruction with imagery of machinery of industrialisation on a changing grassy landscape. Uniquely selected cut work by her suggests multiple aspects of identity, either with an allusion to the Cosmic Egg in process of birthing a human embryo or with a human hand literally navigating the cut and chop of curating the vegetation, as she re-appropriates the histories of homes adopted by her to create her own personal history. With the gradation of white and black in this work, the embedded history of various curio shops and flea markets where these images were found, are also now for the viewer to unpack. This work leads to the overarching question - is our home where we are born or where we create one?
