Rainbird Poetry Festival | Panel Discussion

As a part of The Poetry Club, Mumbai's 3rd anniversary event, Rainbird Poetry Festival, will host four of India’s widely admired and read contemporary poets representing more than four languages in their practice of poetry; Sampurna Chattarji, Ranjit Hoskote, Gieve Patel and Udayan Thakker. It’s a debate and discussion on interesting aspects of reading, writing, translating and teaching poetry.

Sampurna Chattarji is a poet, novelist and translator. Her nine published books include three poetry collections—Absent Muses, The Fried Frog and Sight May Strike You Blind. She has translated the Bengali poems of Joy Goswami.

Ranjit Hoskote is a poet, curator, cultural theorist and a seminal voice in art criticism. He is the author of eight books of poetry, including Vanishing Acts: New & Selected Poems, Central Time, as well as I, Lalla: The Poems of Lal Ded a translation of the 14th-century Kashmiri mystic Lal Ded.

Gieve Patel is a poet, playwright, painter as well as a doctor by profession. He has written three books of poetry, Poems, How Do You Withstand, Body and Mirrored Mirroring and three plays Princes, Savaksa and Mr Behram.

Udayan Thakker is a Gujarati poet, writer, translator as well as a Chartered Accountant. His poetry books include Ekavan, Sellara, Jugalbandhi and Udayan Thakker Na Chuntela Kavyo.
