This walkthrough will be conducted by Parag Tandel, founder of Tandel Fund of Archives in English and will be translated into the Koli dialect by Koli activist Mohit Ramle. The walkthrough will start with the introduction of how the Koli language of Mumbai is slowly being lost. The Chendani Koliwada of Thane, where Parag is from, is the first Koliwada to lose the language. At present they speak Mumbai Marathi.
In 2021, the Tandel Fund of Archives decided to celebrate 1st September as Koli Bhasha Divas. In 2022 UNESCO declared the Upcoming Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022 – 2032) to focus on indigenous language users’ human rights.
